Campervan conversion kit compatibility depends on more than the van’s badge. Model year, body size, doors and existing modifications can all affect how furniture fits. Checking those details early is far easier than discovering a mismatch after delivery.
Use this checklist before requesting a quotation. It will help you provide the information a supplier needs and compare a furniture plan with the space inside your own van.
Record the complete vehicle specification
Write down the manufacturer, model, model year, body length and roof height. Include any relevant wheelbase or body code from the vehicle documentation. If you are unsure which designation applies, send the supplier the specification rather than guessing from appearance.
NEVAN publishes kit pages for several van models, including Ducato, Boxer, Jumper/Relay, Sprinter and Crafter. Their listed L2H2 and L3H2 options are a starting point; confirm the exact vehicle and selected layout before ordering.
Photograph the cargo area clearly
Take photographs from the rear doors, the sliding door and the front of the cargo area. Include wheel arches, pillars, existing trim and any equipment already installed. Mention changes that are not obvious in a photograph, such as a raised floor or a concealed service route.
A photo provides context, but it is not a replacement for measurements. Use it alongside your specification and dimensions so the team can understand both the overall space and any local obstructions.
Check the finished floor and wall layers
Record the floor build-up and planned wall lining. Insulation and panels reduce usable dimensions, and a raised floor changes the relationship between furniture, wheel arches and standing height.
Ask which preparation the furniture drawing assumes. If your van is already lined, measure that finished interior. If it is still bare, tell the supplier what you plan to add and resolve any fitting questions before proceeding.
Measure where the furniture will sit
Measure between wheel arches, around pillars and at the proposed bed height. Check the width and height of access openings too. The broadest part of an empty van does not necessarily determine whether a particular cabinet or bed fits.
Compare those measurements with the supplier’s drawing, using the reference points they specify. If a dimension is unclear, ask for clarification. Avoid making your own adjustments to a model-specific kit without agreement and suitable fitting guidance.
Check the moving parts of the layout
Furniture compatibility includes daily operation. Check drawers, cupboard doors, the table and the bed in both day and night modes. Confirm that each moving part has clearance and that essential storage remains accessible.
Your equipment needs to fit as well. Provide the dimensions of selected appliances and large travel items. A compatible cabinet shell does not automatically establish appliance clearance, ventilation or service access.
Confirm the installation scope in writing
Ask what is included, which vehicle preparation is required and how the furniture is mounted. Confirm hardware, instructions, finishes and optional modules in the quotation. Separate furniture assembly from electrical, water or gas installations and any other work the van needs.
Also discuss the weight of the selected configuration and the vehicle’s available load capacity. Include passengers, water, equipment and luggage in the travel setup rather than treating furniture weight as the entire conversion load.
Use the checklist with your enquiry
Send the vehicle specification, photographs, existing changes, measurements and your main travel priorities together. This gives the supplier a useful basis for recommending a layout or identifying where a custom solution may be needed.
Start with the NEVAN configurator. If your van is outside the listed range, review other vans and custom builds and contact the team before buying. Our flat pack furniture buying guide covers package and assembly questions.
Frequently asked questions
Does the same model name guarantee kit fit?
No. Confirm the year, body version, existing lining and chosen kit specification.
Should I measure before or after lining the van?
The kit needs to work with the finished interior. Tell the supplier both the current state and your planned floor and wall build-up.
What if my van is not listed?
Ask about suitability or a custom solution. Do not order a kit for a similar van without explicit confirmation.
