Magnetic campervan blinds can be quick to fit, but their suitability starts with the window surround. A magnet needs the correct attachment surface in the right place. Upholstery, plastic trim and the depth of a fitted frame can change how a cover sits, even in vans with the same badge.
Check the actual glazing and lining before ordering a set. Treat the vehicle description as a starting point, then confirm the supplier’s fit requirements.
Identify the complete window arrangement
Record whether each window is original or fitted during the conversion. Note its brand or model where available, its opening mechanism and the shape of the surrounding trim. Photograph the corners and any catches that project into the space.
Ask the blind supplier which measurements they need. A cover made for bare metal around a window may not fit the same opening after deep lining panels have been installed.

Check the attachment surface
Confirm where the product’s magnets are intended to attach. Do not assume every visible metal surface is suitable, or that a cover will hold through the thickness of the proposed lining. Use the supplier’s fitting advice and a sample or trial where available.
If additional pads or fittings are proposed, check their compatibility with the window, trim and vehicle. Avoid improvising attachments to glazing or safety equipment. The cover should fit by a method approved for the actual combination of parts.
Inspect the whole perimeter
Fit the cover and look for gaps around each edge. Check it from outside after dark with the interior lights on if privacy is a priority. Make sure handles, catches and required ventilation remain usable according to the relevant equipment instructions.
- Check each corner rather than judging the centre only.
- Look behind neighbouring cupboards for hidden gaps.
- Confirm removal without pulling on window controls.
- Keep the cover clear of appliance heat and cooking areas.
A magnetic attachment does not by itself establish thermal performance. Compare the specific product information and the glazing manufacturer’s instructions before expecting a particular comfort result.

Make removal part of the morning routine
Remove the covers in their intended way and inspect the glazing and fabric for moisture. Dry and care for them as advised by the suppliers. A convenient attachment system still needs an airing and cleaning routine.
For travel, put the covers and loose accessories in suitable storage. Follow the product instructions about use while driving, and keep the cab’s visibility, controls and safety equipment clear.
Measure the stored set
Fold or roll one cover as permitted, then assess the package for the full set. Check that the bag fits through the selected cupboard opening and can be reached without moving the bed. Label a storage bag privately if useful, rather than relying on repeatedly unfolding covers to identify them.
Our thermal window cover guide covers fit and airing in more detail. Confirm the lining and storage arrangement with NEVAN before choosing accessories around a proposed kit.
